7 simple fridge tips to help you keep it tidy and clean

Sharing is caring!

Organize your side-by-side fridge for maximum efficiency and convenience

I own a side-by-side fridge, and for the longest time, I disliked it. While I’m still not too fond of the freezer side, I finally mastered the fridge side and am going to show you how to organize your side-by-side and how even to make room for leftovers.

I know if at any point you have seen fridge organization videos, you may have wondered how they do it. Does the fridge stay exactly like that all the time? If I am being honest, I did too. Honestly, it’s a video meant to share the products on display, and I am willing to bet the fridge changes regularly because while we eat some of the same types of food regularly, what is stored in your fridge will change. And how come they never leave room for leftovers? Let’s get into the tips and how I do my fridge.

Simple fridge tips to help you keep it tidy and clean

1. Use Clear stackable Bins: Group similar items together in clear bins to easily see what you have and avoid food waste. And maximize storage. You want to pick containers that will move around as your inventory does and don’t overstock your fridge with organizers so much it limits your storage space for bulky items.

I am using only stackable containers. If we get a French-door fridge in the future, I may update the pullout drawers on one level.

2. Wipe It Down Weekly: Before your next grocery run, wipe down the shelves quickly. This prevents spills from building up and makes cleaning less of a chore! Make this a part of your kitchen routine. Add it into what I like to call your habit stacks.

3. Designate a leftover spot: keep leftover containers in a specific spot that helps family members know exactly where things go, so nothing rotates at the back of the fridge! I love to use clear containers for my leftovers and mason jars. And I use stasher bags as well.

4. Use a Non-Toxic spray, like Force of Nature or a mixture of vinegar and water, to disinfect and clean. I love using Force of Nature because it is non-toxic, breaks down to saline, disinfects, deodorizes, and sanitizes in 10 minutes.

5. Keep kid-friendly items towards the bottom or in easy-to-reach areas.

6. Place new items behind old items so you use them before they expire.

7. Don’t overshop—avoid buying everything in bulk and only get what you need. That way, you can still see what you have.
